I made a dreaded mistake last night, I thought I’d better get caught up on what’s going on in the world, so I watched the news, thinking this would be good idea.
WOW, what has happened to everyone, what trend is drastically changing all the people of this world. Everything’s in a free-fall everywhere.
When you don’t watch or read the news regularly, you are away from all the negative “stuff” going on everywhere. Murders, rapes, deaths, story after story.
And I can already hear so: No, I haven’t been living under a rock.
I’ve been living my life working hard everyday to get myself back up since losing everything, including my health, from an accident that changed my life in an instant. I’ve been consciously putting positive thoughts and affirmations in myself, the only way I know. to give me the fuel I need to get back up.
But after seeing and hearing all that “crap”, I’m so grateful I’ve taken the positive route to come back, because if I chose hateful, negative thinking like I heard last night, I’d be dead by now.
What in the world has happened to everyone?
Good question isn’t it, what has happened to peoples morals, honesty, character……………. I think folks have a lot of work to do on themselves.
The mistake of watching the news last night made me think, probably too much, about why?
Why is there NO respect for law enforcement, why is there NO respect for the elder voice, why is there NO respect for another human being!
This World needs, what we all need, are to be people who:
Whose word is the bond.
Who cannot be bought.
Who put character above wealth.
Who possess opinions and a will.
Who are larger than their profession.
Who do not hesitate to take chances.
Who will not lose their individuality in a crowd.
Who will be as honest in the small things, as in the big and great things.
Who will make no compromise with wrong.
Whose ambitions are not confined to their own selfish desires.
Who will not say they do something, just because everyone else does it.
Who are true to their friends through a good report, a bad report, in adversity, as well as in prosperity.
Who do not believe that crafty hurtful deception and hardheadedness are the best qualities for winning success.
Who are not ashamed or afraid to stand for the truth, even when it’s unpopular.
Who can say “no” with an emphasis, although all the rest of the world says “yes’.
This world is revolving back to the centuries of no law and order, no reason only revenge, no giving only taking, no fairness only “mine”.
I am very concerned about this direction, unless we all start at home, one day at a time, one child at a time.
It was done before to turn things around, I just hope we catch it before it’s too late.
“Beautiful things happen when you distance yourself from negativity”……….
See you tomorrow.

Linda I watched your video before I read your post. I never watch the news because i think iti is just so negative. There are heaps of great people around they just do not get featured by the media. I think we are blessed to be a part of a community of uplifting people. I loved your video and what happened.
You’re a 100% right Sue, I agree completely. If I do go back & watch the news, I have to remember the media always buts a slant on things & how wonderful so many others are that never get mentioned. I appreciate your sweet comments on my video & this blog.
Thank you Sue, you’re so sweet. I appreciate your insight. Television, media, magazines & all the “hyped” negative news is just mind blowing. I’ve always said: “Garbage in / Garbage out!” What you put in your mind is exactly what you spit out. Does it make you feel good? Of course not, it’s 70-80% gossip, mis-representation & lies anyway. Why would we want to put all that into our minds & let it drain our energy. Well Said Sue.
I also watched your video before I read your post, and what I’m finding is that there are wonderful pockets of communities in the world where everything you speak of is a reality. Where people are kind, where they lift each other up, where they support each other, where their word is bond. And it’s people like YOU Linda who show us the way.
Love this post!
You are sooo right Erica, that’s why I felt important to clarify my blog ‘in person’. I did feel bad about that & I agree with your insight. But, for the record, I believe we need to be aware of how the negatives do affect us. For me, who’s pretty open minded & flexible, it hit me like a canon before I knew it. Thank you for you kind words also, I appreciate you so much.
Oh Erica, that’s so kind of you, wow I appreciate your kind words.
The world’s dominant problem is most people think the “media” is the correct word, the word of the land & the gospel. They couldn’t be more wrong. However, as you & Sue have mentioned, there are so many outstanding individuals out there with incredible positive, helpful information to expand the mind. I guess that’s why I’m a ‘documentary’ lover, I like to ‘learn’ instead of having garbage shoved down my throat. I think we need more documentaries that reality shows, personally.
Thank you for your reflection on this topic because it’s prevalent everywhere. I so appreciate you Erica.
I too have been thinking the same way you have above in your post. It’s funny you mentioned being accused of being under a rock. I’ve felt that way too. I think I’m “supposed” to be aware of what’s happening in the world. But it makes my attitude turn a bit when watching the news. It’s sort of an oxymoron….we’re supposed to be informed and when we’re not our friends think we just don’t care. I’ve been accused by a friend that “I’m part of the reason our world is the way it is because I live in my own little world.” I’m staying in my own little world. Good bye to that friend!
Beth, that’s pretty much how I wound up turning on the news that night, “you should know what’s going on, you have a responsibility” blah, blah, blah………. Well, you see what it did to me, made me negative & stunned about the world we live in. But, if it’s important enough, I’m sure someone will let me know, without my having to ruin my day of greatness hearing the media’s slant on things. I believe I do have a responsibility, to keep myself positive, healthy & unstressed. Thank you Beth, I appreciate your insight.
Beth, I’ve actually been accused of the same thing & also told ‘I’m out of touch”. The problem with the media, it’s only the reporter “view” of the news or what’s happened.
I remember when I had my Television Talk Show, the producers started pressuring me to angle things like the ‘news”. Well, I quickly declined & threatened to leave the show unless I wasn’t pressure with giving interpretations anymore. My show was factual, with those involved in the news, on my show & giving their own testimony of what really happened. By running it my way, that show lasted 10 years. “Just the facts”.
Those who don’t like that I’m not ‘living by the news’ aren’t my friends anymore……
You are right. There is so much negativity and hurt in this world. I have no respect for the news because they just perpetuate the negativity. They choose to instill fear and rage in people – they allow their viewers to feed on the negatives in the world and all the bad stuff. At the same time – there is beauty. Good people. Amazing acts of courage and humanity. I would even venture to say that the positive outweighs the negative in the world. The news just doesn’t want us to believe this…
Love your post!
Oh Kristin, you have nailed it! There are more good people than bad in the world, but the media wouldn’t survive if we all knew that. Sad isn’t it, negativity & gory sells & the positive lies silent. Thank you Kristin for your insight, I appreciate your comments.
oh, no…I’m not sure why but I don’t see a video. Nevertheless, you’re message is so on point, another reason why I don’t watch the news and only try to do my own paradigm shifting by creating a business and life that don’t compromise any of the above…love that ‘word is bond’ and I remember the very first time I heard it, too…thank you for this and I’ll try once again to find your video. XO, Zen
Hi Zen, if you go to my profile page of FB, scroll way down to the video where I’m wearing a light yellow shirt: “Wednesday @ 1:05pm (I just added the Blog title on top of the video picture for you to find it) I should have inserted the video back into the blog, it but I didn’t think it was appropriate.
Thanks Zen for your insight & you are VERY smart not to let the negative media information into your head. That stuff will change you & forget about all the wonderful people in this world that are never heard.
