Why Can’t We Just Be Alike? | How to identify the areas that people are different.

WHY CAN’T WE JUST BE ALIKE?

Although we are all born practically with the same parts, no 2 people are really alike.

“Oh, but my ___ & I are just alike, we think the same, like the same things….”

Your thoughts,  preferences &  other similarities may be the same to you, but they are merely only coincidences .

Our differences come from our behaviors, thinking, & more of the level of our mental capabilities & neurological (brain) input / output.

So, what that means is, although we are “alike in so many ways”, we really are different.

HOW TO IDENTIFY THE AREAS THAT PEOPLE ARE DIFFERENT

Leaper or Looker:

Leapers take risks – when they see an opportunity the want to jump on it before it’s too late.

Lookers are more cautious – they like to carefully chaeck everything out before making a decision.

Extrovert or Introvert:

Extroverts – love crowds, are energized by people.

Introverts – would rather spend time in solitude or with a close friend.

Outliner or Detailer:

Outliners – have a general focus & look at the big picture.  They think in terms of direction & getting things done.

Detailers – look at the ‘nuts & bolts’.  Their concern is how to get things done.

Spender or Saver:

Spenders – if they have extra money, they want to spend it on themselves, on others, on worthy causes, on anything.

Saver – if they have extra money, they want to put it away for a rainy day.  They do not like to spend unless it very important.

Planner or Lexer:

Planners – love structure with everything organized & neatly packaged.  They like schedules & deadlines.

Lexers – bend with the flow of life & take things as they come.  They tend to be spontaneous & laid back, loose ends don’t bother them because they believe everything will work out.

Scurrier or Ambler:

Scurriers – are always busy.  Speed & efficiency are their motive & motto, they accomplish as much as they can as fast as they can.

Amblers – take their time & set their own pace.  They might do as much as a scurrier, but they enjoy what they do.

Thinker or Feeler:

Thinkers – focus on facts & principles.  They base decisions on objective date & tend to be task oriented.

Feelers – focus on people & emotions.  They base their decisions on subjective data & tend to be relationship oriented.

Dreamer or Worker:

Dreamers – are creative people who love to come up with ideas.  They are optimistic & oriented toward the future.

Workers – are practical.  They like to take other people’s ideas & make them happen.  They tend to be realistic & focus on the present.

Collector or Tosser:

Collectors – gather things, they hate to throw anything away because they know they just might need it sometime.

Tossers – get rid of things, they hate clutter & they insist that if you haven’t used something recently, you probably never will.

Juggler or Holder:

Jugglers – are multi-channeled & can deal with may things simultaneously.

Holders – are single-channeled & can only deal with one, maybe two things at a time.  If they try to do more, they become stressed & overwhelmed.

Everyone is different & unique. A Jack rabbit or a Tortoise…

We create balance, variety & challenges.   There’s no right or wrong type.

Just BE you!

Create your differences & talk about them too.

Embrace what & who you are, stay consistent & always keep moving forward.

So, find out who you are & be at peace with it.

“First learn to love yourself, instead of loving the idea of other people loving you”…..

  1. Linda this was very unique in itself the way you pointed out all the various differences while providing a pretty clear definition of the differences in all of us… I’m definitely a Lexer. Guess that’s just part of being an Optimistic person which I am as well. Great post Linda thanks for taking the time to put it all together.

Thank you Robert, I know you meant Flexer (unless I misspelled). But yes, I see you as the ‘Go with the flow, take things as they come, laid back & stay unruffled’, type of person. Being Optimistic will always work in your favor. Thank you for your thoughts Robert, I love it.

  2. Linda this post was so interesting! I never heard of many of these terms and I consider myself a student of learning about people. Very good post -thank you.

Thank you Nancy for sharing your insight. We’re all a work in progress & never stop learning. I appreciate that.

Linda, this is a very interesting account of all the different types of traits we all have, I can definitely resonate with a few of them, thanks.

Thank you Debbie, surprise surprise isn’t it. this gives being “unique” another meaning to us. Thanks for sharing your insight.

  4. Gosh … you can see why some married couples tear their hair out if they marry the total opposite of what they are. Spenders marrying savers, tossers marrying collectors, leapers marrying lookers … interesting combinations and it happens all the time!

Erica, the saying of ‘opposites attract’ has a new meaning doesn’t it? It’s a lot of work when you ARE truly opposites. A lot of compromise, a lot of giving, a lot of sacrifices are an every moment living with opposites, much more so than with an open compromising communicative couple. It does happen all the time & hence a contributing factor of the high divorce rate. Thank you for your thoughts, as always, Erica.
