“How Can Something So Right, Go So Wrong?!” | How your message may come across to others

“HOW CAN SOMETHING SO RIGHT, GO SO WRONG?!”

Sometimes, you don’t have any idea of HOW you may be coming across to other people when speaking.

It’s MORE than just your WORDS, your body language may tell a different story than your verbal intent.

When you are determined or passionate about getting message across, things can get a little tangled up.

If  this has happens to you once in a while when you were trying to help someone with some great information, you may have found they didn’t really like what you said.

-Why??

Here are some examples of what can happen when you’re overly focused on getting your message across.

************

How your message comes across to others

When in your determination to be bold, you instead become harsh.

When in your desire to be frank, you become rude.

When in your effort to be watchful, you become suspicious.

When you try to become serious, you become somber.

When you mean to be conscientious, you become overly conscientious.

When you’re trying to help someone, be yourself, be aware of all of your hidden messages, both verbal & non verbal.

I applaud your effort to speak and help, but remember, we all speak two languages (verbal, non verbal).

The recipient of your information may see & hear something totally different than your helpful efforts and intentions.

Both your focus and excitement of what you know, may send mixed messages, and cause your something right, to go very wrong.

“Sometimes it’s not what you say or know, it’s how you deliver your message that speaks volumes”……….

So true Debbie, once it’s past our lips, it’s too late & it can never be changed. Thank you for your thoughts Debbie, I’m so glad you stopped by.

Great message, Linda. Our non verbal language speaks very loudly and we need to be aware of it also. So important.

    • Linda Frame

Absolutely Kenna, in fact I’m a believer that our “non-verbal” language speaks louder than our verbal words. Thank you so much for your thoughts Kenna, I appreciate it.

  3. Awesome post Linda! You are so right about how your message comes across to others. You can learn so much by the non-verbal clues, sometimes you don’t even need to be hearing the verbal communication. Great reminder to be aware. Thank you

Thank you Kristine. We can all use the gentle reminders because you’re spot on, it’s the “non-verbal’ message that always comes across first & foremost! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
