“I DON’T HAVE TIME TO DO THAT!”
I know you’ve heard the expression: “Stop & smell the flowers”, or a variation of that phrase.
Well, today we’re going to visit that old saying.
You may have found yourself saying, yes, yes, yes, too many times to do too many projects & now what’s happened, you’re out of time!!
Oh boy, now what are you going to do?
You have to do this, you have to write that, you have to go over there, you have to take your kids back there, you have to fix this for them….
Sound familiar you your typical day, or of someone you know?
**********
**********
Time, for some of you, that sounds like a word from a foreign language don’t it.
Sure is does, be honest, it’s what most people do & then wonder how the heck they’re going to get anything done, all the while thinking; why did I agree to do that!
Alright, you’ve already committed yourself, so let’s clean this mess in your head up, before you shut down.
*****
Stop Listen Think
*****
I want you to trust me with an open mind for a few minutes while I give you a few suggestions of how to fix this mess you’ve gotten yourself into, so it won’t happen again.
Are you ready, open minded?
Promise?? Okay, here we go….
*********
How to take control of you time.
First, remember WHO is in charge.
Time is something you manage, & not something that manages you.
Learn to think through each time commitment, in it’s entirety.
Don’t be impulsive, give yourself time to think about it by asking, “Can I let you know tomorrow”.
You must decide what is truly urgent.
Instead of thinking, “I have to get this done now!”
Stop, is it Really Urgent?
Most “urgent” needs or tasks aren’t really that urgent, so think it through.
It’s not life or death….
Change it up & schedule in reverse.
Put the real priorities on the calendar first (date night, family activity).
Then, write in everything else.
Commit to drop one thing from your schedule.
Yes you’ll probably let someone down, but look who benefits & is the most important.
Spending 1 less day a week as a “trainer” or recess monitor for your kids, frees you up for a lunch date for you spouse or best friend.
It’s called “recharging” yourself.
This one is difficult for many but this one is for YOU:
Be, rather than do. Read those 4 words again.
For an hour or two, take time for yourself .
Read, pray, relax in a comfy chair or outside with the birds, but just do it to unwind your mind.
Everyday, you must be honest about your limitations.
Do you find yourself saying “yes” to a project in hopes that a weekend will suddenly have the 10 extra hours you’ll need to complete it?
Remember, you cannot manufacture time!
Sit down & make a list of every one of your commitments.
Put that list next to your computer, phone, or calendar.
This visual reminder will show you of all the commitments you’re involved in.
It will also make you think twice (hopefully) before tacking on something else for you to do.
********
*******
Okay, that’s only my “short” list of getting control of your time.
I do hope you take some of those suggestions & put them to practice, starting today.
You cannot forget that life is about living, & NOT about being on the dead run all of the time.
So stop, think & listen to yourself before the next time you say “yes”.

“Sometimes people don’t notice the things we do for them, until we stop doing them”……….

I know what you’re going through, I’ve been there, it hurts, its terrifying & you have no clue where to turn.
I honestly have been through this myself. I was in a tragic accident last year & lost my job / income, my health & mobility. I was devastated, the bills never stopped coming in & I was drowning in debt. Sound somewhat familiar?
Let me share with you what I did that literally saved my life. I’ve been able to completely turn my l life around, get back up, become more successful than ever before & financially free. Check this out below:

Thank you Angie, I appreciate your thoughts!
Good list! I like the idea of making a list of all my commitments. I find that if I don’t work off of a visual reminder, I end up wasting time and working too hard to get things done.
Thank you Metro! You have the perfect “habit” to manage your time, keep it up.
Hi Linda,
Who are we listening to
the perfect question, I think.
Often we go with thoughts that are our parents, teachers, mentors, the media.
