Do you want to change?

You will need both desire & perserverance.

Is it a really bad habit?

You must be convinced it’s either stupid, harmful or wrong.

Can you admit your need for help?

If your answer is yes, you must take the next step.

What are the consequences of not stopping?

You can calculate the cost in time, money & health.

Does it hurt your family or friends?

Decide if you’re willing to risk these relationships.

Will you seek support from others?

There is so much help available for those who ask.

Only YOU can change your negative & bad habits, but you have to want to.

If you believe sincerely your negative behavior & habits are wrong, then you have a duty to change them.

If you do change them, they have to be consistently changed 24/7 & not just turned on & off.

Your welcome.

  1. That’s the BEST question when facing bad habits: “What are the consequences of not stopping?”

I remember doing an exercise with Tony Robbins and he asks this question: “Step forward 5 years, 10 years, 15 years … 20 years … and MORE! What will your life look like if you keep doing this behavior?”

Well … that was a shocking wake up call for me!

I worked hard to stop a bad behavior.

  2. That’s an important list of questions to be asked, and answered, by the person who needs to make a change. It’s been my experience that the majority of people need those questions to be asked of them by another person to really understand the gravity of the situation. I’m not saying they should be ambushed with an intervention (unless their life is in immediate danger of course) or even visit an overpaid under educated Psychologist…. but the simple act of sitting down with a friend who cares enough to tell them the truth can work wonders!! Great post again Linda, thank you.
