“I DON’T WANT TO GO, I’D RATHER STAY HOME!”
You’ve heard or even said that before haven’t you!
There are many people who LOVE Holiday gatherings & can’t wait to get going.
However, there are others who’d rather have a root canal done than to have to go out to a gathering.
Holiday gatherings are very difficult for some people because they have to talk, get dressed up, socialize & act like they’re having fun.
The problem is, you’re looking at the gathering totally wrong!!
Holiday gatherings are different than just going to a “party” & should not be compared.
Sure, every family has an “Uncle Frank” who takes over the gathering in his own way.
Relatives can either be wonderful to see again or well, you know what I mean.
Either way, remember the REAL reason for this Holiday gathering & instead spend you thoughts in gratitude for being here today & tomorrow.
****************************
Here’s how to deal with the Holiday gatherings
Focus on listening,
Let the others do the talking, it’s less stressful.
Compliment others.
It’s a great opener & the other person will talk over the conversation.
Drink a lot of water before attending the party.
You’re less likely to overeat.
Drink a glass of water before EACH drink you have.
You are less likely to get too tipsy or even drink too much.
Offer to help the Host.
This will be helpful for the Host to mingle too.
Bring a small gift for the Host.
This is to show your appreciation for the invitation.
Offer to help clean up afterwards.
This thoughtful gesture will help the Host clean up faster.
Do not turn on the TV, change the music, or go off to another room alone.
The Host has control of the entertainment & you accepted the invitation to participate.

******************************
Holiday gatherings can be fun as long as you go along with the Hosts selections.
If you’re uncomfortable, think of some of the thoughts listed above to help you out.
Remember, someday, you may be the one Hosting the gathering…
