“I Just Can’t Think, What’s Wrong With Me!” | How to understand the signs of BURNOUT.

I JUST CAN’T THINK, WHAT’S WRONG WITH ME!”

You do that same task a hundred times, but now you can’t get it together..

“I just feel so blah, am I sick?”

You use to do double the work you are doing now, maybe your just getting older..

“I don’t want to go with those guys today, I’d rather be alone”.

You are just not eating & sleeping the way you use to, maybe you’re coming down with something..

Have you ever heard things similar to these before from a co-worker, friend or maybe yourself?

No, they’re not unusual or exaggerated at all.

These are typical statements made, & there are many more, of those who are experiencing signs of burnout.

Now, understand first of all, burnout is seemingly used quite loosely & too often when it’s not really happening. & a sign of something more serious.

However, there are those around you everyday that have the very symptoms of burnout & are thinking they are coming down with an illness.

I want to share with you the typical signs of burnout.

It’s important to keep in mind, the symptoms of burnout vary from person to person & may not be typical in everyone.

There are other more extreme symptoms of burnout which I’m not listing here & should be discussed with your personal physician.

You may just notice more when you’re trying to do your usual exercise routine.

Back pain,strain, hurt, exercise, stretching

Burnout as I’ve stated has other signs that are more serious & should be discussed with you physician.

Those who experience additional signs not indicated here are possibly additional signs of burnout, however you should be consulting your physician as well.

Why do I keep referring these signs to a physician?

Burnout if not identified correctly, can have long term effects on your health & mental state.  Early detection & identification is very important.

Is there a magic pill to correct Burnout?

No, but there ARE things you can do about having these symptoms very easily, before they get out of control.

“Then if there’s no pill, then why see the doctor about it”.

For your long term health & well being.  You only have one life & one body, if you ignore these symptoms then you are neglecting yourself.

Be aware of yourself, be aware of any changes going on within yourself.

If you think something’s off, then it is & just talk to someone.

There’s an easy fix & it doesn’t take Rocket Science for you to correct it.

Thank you Rhonda, your words & insight are always welcomed. Thanks for sharing this & yes, always listen to what really knows the best: your body.

  2. Gosh … I for one know that I’ve experienced nearly all of those symptoms. Thank goodness I found meditation.

I remember once a doctor asking me, “Do you suffer from stress?”

    I answered, “Goodness no!’

He responded, “Your body is telling me otherwise!”

    Auto-Immune diseases don’t lie.

LOL … different lifestyle and meditation changed everything.

Thank you for your post and reminding me to never get back to that state again!

Erica, I had my physician tell me “you have to find a new job”. He wasn’t kidding, he told me to get out of the Emergency Room as a Nurse before I wound up there as a patient… It’s a fact that our our jobs can lead to our demise unless we get our stress under control. Stress is found in a number of ways, but when it’s narrowed down to you j.o.b., it’s time to make a change. I’ve always said that stress effects our body & you’ve received confirmation of that. I’m glad you made the change & are once again healthy. No worries, I’ll keep reminding you! Thank you for your input.

  3. I know burn out so well. I feel like Im an expert on burnout.

I have test results that show where I was going to where I am now.

    Burn out is real!

Your blog hit it on the head Linda

  4. I think burnout was what led to my cancer. When we keep pushing and pushing day after day without taking time to care for ourselves we run the risk of getting burnout. We definitely need to listen to our body and take notice.
Thanks for the reminder here Linda.

Totally been there and done that… it’s not pretty and it usually creeps up on you without you noticing until you’ve really got a problem. Thank you Linda for putting this out there because a lot of people need to have a good hard think about how stress and burnout can be affecting their lives.
