“I WANT IT ALL!”
Many people dream of the “big life”, having everything they’ve ever dreamed of having.
Maybe part of your dream is to “live large”.
But have you ever thought maybe that having it all, is maybe just too much?
Some will say, Heck No, whereas others may ponder that thought.
I live in a resort city with a large beautiful lake that’s known throughout the Midwest as one the most beautiful, because the lake is so clear you see bottom everywhere. Primarily because it’s it’s fed by springs all around the lake.
This area is known as the ‘playground of the Chicago rich’. In fact after the great Chicago Fire in the 1800’s, the rich flocked here to by up the lake fronts to build their summer homes, hence, their playground during the summer months.
I have interviewed many of the rich & wealthy around our beautiful lakefronts in their mansions, where the lakes front taxes alone can cost up to or more than $80,000.00/year. To them, these mansions have been occupied for decades by Celebrities, Millionaires, Billionaires, families who have spent generations here.
The rich & wealthy are from all over the world, but did take time for this local woman who grew up her & has always had a lot of questions.
My curiosity of why do you need to have more than you need has been a burning question I’ve always had.
Never did I have the guts to ask celebrities, millionaires or billionaires questions that were none of my business, until I spent 10 years as a Television Host on a prime time talk show.
I learned first hand after that thousands of interviews, they put their britches on the same way I do & they’re no more special than we are.
So I set out to get some answers to many of my own burning questions.
I asked them all to fill in the blank of the same question: “THE MORE YOU HAVE”….
Here is the general collection of the answers to the same phrase of: “The More You Have”…..
HERE’S A WAY TO DECIDE IF HAVING TOO MUCH, IS TOO MUCH
THE MORE YOU HAVE, the more you have to lose.
THE MORE YOU HAVE, the more you have to worry about.
THE MORE YOU HAVE, the more you want.
THE MORE YOU HAVE, the more you realize it does you no good.
THE MORE YOU HAVE, the less you’re satisfied.
THE MORE YOU HAVE, the more you have to leave behind.
THE MORE YOU HAVE, the more you can hurt yourself by holding on to it.
THE MORE YOU HAVE, the more people will come after it.
So many feel that if they ‘have it all’, all their worry’s will be gone.
Whether you ‘have it all’, of have nothing at all, the grass in never greener on the other side of the fence.
You should be only focused on your own side of the fence grass, grateful of what you have & be happy for what you’re able to do each & every day.
As you can see, even the ultra rich, have a common thought about having it all: too many problems.
Grow into your dreams, gradually you’ll get there, but enjoy the ride along the way.
“When you stop chasing the wrong things, you give the right things a chance to catch you”….
See you tomorrow..

Lol, it’s just a different set of ‘life problems’ to handle and that’s the misconception … Having a lot doesn’t mean your exempt from life stuff it just means a shift in how and what you WANT to handle! Big houses and cars and staff come with a set of issues of their own and you need staff to set up all those foundations to fund and change the world with…oh my…! Lol luv this though bc it’s true there’s more at stake but focus energy on the good part and it could be a great problem to have
Yes it “could” be a great problem to have, IF the guidelines & influx were handled correctly from the beginning. I’ve found through these interviews, these folks were only maintaining what they have for “the others” (children, spouse, prestige, status…). Hence, they weren’t happy. However, interviewing those with money & little material things, were over the moon with daily enjoyment. Thank you Zen for sharing your thoughts.
EPIC QUOTE: “Grow into your dreams, gradually you’ll get there, but enjoy the ride along the way.” ~ Linda Frame
I’ll never forget after 9-11 how many Wall Street traders left Wall Street for the country saying, “It’s just not worth it!” That’s one comment that has always stuck in the back of my mind.
For me, I don’t want it all … I just want to make a difference.
Oh Erica, you ARE making a difference EVERYDAY! Those interviewed who didn’t choose the material things, the prestige or the status visuals, were so much more happy because they were living the value of life, having the opportunity to live & help others, just as you are. Those in the interview who had the big everything, were only maintaining it & the habit for their kids, their spouse\, the prestige & the status. How sad to just be materialistic. Thank you Erica for all you do for everyone.
