“I’VE GOT PRIDE, ISN’T THAT ALL I NEED?”
Many people think by having pride you have all you need for a good personality.
A personality is made up of many things, but these things have to have a balance of sorts.
To better explain what I’m referring to, let me instead just show you a great balance example by just using pride.
**************************
How to have a balanced personality
Pride promotes oneself,
Humility encourages others.
Pride provokes arguments,
Humility brings peace.
Pride produces misunderstandings,
Humility gives insight.
Pride postpones reconciliation,
Humility admits mistakes.
Pride prevents intimacy,
Humility builds closeness.
***********************
*******************
Take a good look in the mirror at yourself, do you REALLY like what you see??!!
If you think carefully about the differences between Pride & Humility, you can clearly see why it’s necessary to have a balance.
Is this a sudden discovery, absolutely not, it’s been here since language was put into place.
The problem is, most people are so busy blaming other, they aren’t looking at the WHOLE package required to keep yourself balanced.
If you find yourself struggling to keep people around you, take a better look, an honest look, at your own balance.
It’s a very long lonely road to travel by yourself, if you have blown everyone off by how you act…

Thanks Linda for pointing out the difference between pride and humility and how important it is to be balanced between the two. Thanks for the education!
Thank you Nancy, it’s a difference that I’ve suprisingly found not many people know about. I hope you are well, miss you!!
My pleasure Nancy, thank you for visiting here today. I’m glad you realized the difference, you knew it all along, because you practice it everyday!
There is so much truth to this Linda! We are taught to believe that pride is the most important factor, but as you explain here that is simply not the case. I love how you said, “most people are so busy blaming others.” It’s hard for many to admit fault and take responsibility for anything, but that is where your true power lies. Great post, thanks for sharing1
Kristine thank you for your thoughts. I was amazed to find the number people who didn’t understand the difference or the need of balance. Thank you for catching on to this, I appreciate your insight.
You’ve nailed it Kristine, well done. You have the power, you are responsible, you are real! Thank you for your thoughts.
Oh that naughty little ego popping up as pride! He’s a boastful one that one isn’t he! I must admit if I feel pride popping up, I quickly remind myself of the expression that pride comes before a mighty fall. Better off to simply stay humble … and let one’s actions speak volumes and nothing more.
Always a thought provoking read Linda!
Thank you!
Ego, as we point out in the medical – psychoanalytical world, is that self we all have within us that sort of acts as a little mediator between you the person & reality. That “naughty little thing” that pops up when there’s a struggle between the pride & the reality/humbled persons. Which ‘ego’ will surface.
These decisions occur within us regularly, unless we’ve been taught right from wrong. The lesser person chooses pride, however, you are the humble one because you’re honest, have value & character. You know & believe in right from wrong & will always do the right thing. Thank you Erica for you insight!
Ego, as we point out in the medical / psychoanalytic world, is your ‘pride’ & the ‘reality’/humbled persons. When pride is at stake, that “naughty little ego” will surface & mediate between the person with ‘pride’ & person with humility known as ‘reality?’ So who’s going to win the tug -a -war between pride & humbled reality? It all depends on the individual person.
