“WHAT AM I GOING TO DO NOW, EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED!”
Being a survivor of something can be an incredibly lonely feeling.
I know this all too well because I’ve been there.
After my accident, I was left with an extremely broken body, mind & spirit.
My entire life as I knew it, was changed in an instant.
How do you find the sense, I mean the common sense to think, move, organize, speak logically or understand.
That was the toughest part, to shake off the “what the heck just happened?”.
Everyone has their own way, their own help, their own life saver. I know I found mine!
But what if you are NOT blessed enough to have a plan or a way to get back up & make it again.

How to be a SURVIVOR!
(The things a real survivor says:)
I will not allow myself to behave as a victim.
I will take advantage of every opportunity.
I want to be involved with people who will build me up & help me grow.
No matter what happens, I will not allow myself to be defeated. I will keep on trying & I will not give up.
I am determined to keep pushing ahead.
I will look at the future with an open mind & let it guide what I do in the present.
I am willing to grow, change & learn new roles.
I am a very fortunate person, regardless of what I have experienced.
I can face the challenges of life & handle the stresses & crisis of life without denying or giving up.
I can find meaning in situation & events that involve suffering or great loss.
I can accept my imperfections & learn to enjoy life & give to others.

These thoughts fit ALL situations: grieving a loss, illness, injuries, relationship changes, job loss, loss of a home or family, & anything else that hits you.
With your own situation in mind, read them again & see how it fits to your issues.
Life is never easy, it’s not suppose to be otherwise we would not learn, grow & become stronger from the things we go through.
A Crisis doesn’t happen to you because of “bad luck”, your a “bad person” or you “deserved it”.
Crisis happens to everyone in one way or another.
It’s how you handle a crisis, that makes you who you are…

“Sometimes it takes sadness to know happiness, noise to appreciate silence, & absence to value presence”…

Great advice as always Linda. We all have our challenges and crisis along the way. Some are worse than others and it is how we handle them and move on that is the important part. As you said :It’s how you handle a crisis, that makes you who you are…” that says it all really.
Thank you for another great post.
