“I’M NOT PROCRASTINATING, I’M JUST…WAITING!”
Well, while you’re “Waiting”, things get rusty, you get rusty!!!
So many of us have this tiny little affliction that occurs without us even realizing it, and it’s called procrastination….
BOOM, I said it, p r o c r a s t i n a t i o n.
This little affliction of procrastination can happen to you without you even knowing you’ve done it.
When that happens, uh oh, now it’s hanging over your head because you put it off & here comes the stress .
When you put things off instead of tackling them right away, that builds up stress in you doesn’t it.
You know it’s there, you know you have to do it, but,”oh man, I don’t want to do that”……..
Oh, does that sound slightly familiar to you?
Sure it does, I know.
You don’t know why you do it, but you sure you blame time other things like: time, activities, work, family time, car repairs, meetings, cleaning the house…… what?
You’d rather clean the house & procrastinate than tackle that stuff? Yup, some folks really would.
**********
So, why do we procrastinate?
We enjoy the last minute adrenaline rush.
We would rather be doing something else.
We over or under estimate the amount of time needed.
We feel overwhelmed.
We think that if we wait long enough, the task will go away.
We fear failure.
We fear success.
*********
******
That rope & knot in your stomach is just going to get tighter & tighter until you stop procrastinating.
Now, procrastination does not happen alone however, when there’s procrastination, there is s t r e s s.
Yes, you wind up stressed out because you know you have to do something & you’re not doing it.
Procrastination is one of the most time & energy burners you can do to yourself. There are so many reasons we have for procrastinating, but they’re really only excuses.
You will never do yourself a favor by putting off something to ‘save for later’, because you KNOW it’s there & that weight will not be moved until you handle it.
If you “don’t have time right now”, you better make time, otherwise you’ll have to interrupt something else later to do what you should have done right away in the first place.
Right? You know I’m right about this, come on now.
Make it a point to not procrastinate.
Do not put yourself under that preventable stress, just do it now as it happens & save yourself time & stress later.
You’ll be glad you did.
*********
How do you stop procrastination?
Start today, go through the entire day & do not put off one thing, not one.
Then tomorrow, do the same thing, do not put off one thing, again, not one thing.
Procrastination, is a habit just like any other ‘habit’ & only you can stop it, by moving one day at a time.
When you get through the entire day, give yourself some praise.
Then just repeat that conscious routine again tomorrow, of getting through a whole day & not procrastinate.
Keep it going.
Kick the habit, you have this choice, only you can stop procrastinating.
