Do You Procrastinate?

by Linda Frame, RN-Medical Content Writer Freelance on March 20, 2015

HELLO everyone, thank you for visiting my blog today.  My name is Linda Frame and I am here everyday with:    DAILY ADVERSITY SUPPORT

I’m here to talk about the challenges, the hurdles, those ‘nothing goes right days and the set backs that jump in your way unexpectedly.  You may even feel like that ‘black cloud’ hanging over your head seems to have your name on it.  If a particular topic of the day here doesn’t suit you or doesn’t speak to you, that’s fine, maybe tomorrows topic will seem more interesting to your issues in your life.  Why, because I have been through a lifetime of rock bottom challenges, and I want to share how you can crawl back up successfully.

Do you put things off, decide to wait to do something, don’t ‘feel’ like doing something now?  Do you find that you do this a lot, to put things off because you ‘don’t’ want to deal with something now?

Most people will say, “oh, I just didn’t have time”, or any other excuse they decide to come up with.  But, procrastination and putting things off is really a sign of something else.

Here are a few excuses heard around the world and used by most folks, by studies have shown, these are real signs of a personal problem and not a lack of time problem.  These are what the study found as some of the responses of procrastination from people:

We feel overwhelmed.

We fear failure.

We fear success.

We overestimate the time needed do something.

We would rather be doing something else.

We think that if we wait long enough, the task will go away.

We enjoy the last-minute adrenaline rush.

“If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way.  If you don’t. you’ll find an excuse”…….

See you tomorrow

Hi Linda

Procrastinating I know so well. That overwhelming sensation. And I feel that I need to kick myself to move forward to get what needs to be done!

Excellent post for me. Thank you 🙂

Dave, I agree it takes a swift kick to get things moving when you procrastinate. I mentioned in another comment, that I too was one of the worst procrastinators, until my accident last summer. When my life changed in an instant I saw my bad habits played in front of me & procrastination was a bad one for me. I’ve not done that since & as I continue to still recover from that that life changing event, I am reminded everyday & with every physical & occupational therapy appointments. Life is too short to put off what you have complete control over. Thanks Dave for visiting.

Great post Linda.. I saw Abraham Hicks explain Procrastination so well – you are not in alignment with what you want to do – because if you are, you would just do it 🙂

Oh Helen that’s a beautiful reminder of Sir Abraham Hicks, better words were never spoken. I mentioned in another message that I was notorious for procrastination, until my accident last summer. During that instant of my life being replayed before, I was cured & realigned, and I have never been that way again. Thanks Helen for the great phrase!

Abraham Hicks says it well.

I’m the Queen of procrastination! I must have ADD!

Linda Frame March 29, 2015 at 2:45 pm

Gosh Beth, I think I’ve been dethroned! I always had that problem until my accident. When your life changes in an instant, it cause you to really re-evaluate things. Procrastination for me at that moment, was never again a part of my lifestyle. Thanks Beth.

I don’t think you have A.D.D Beth, I just think you have SO MUCH going on at the same time it puts you in a freeze. Being so overwhelmed with a list of “must do’s” will lock up anyone with the best of intentions. However, if your daily life is crammed full everyday, it is a habit & that is something only YOU can change. Thank you Beth for sharing.
