Growing Old Gracefully.

TIME is not on our side, it’s clicking away, second by second, moment by moment.

There’s one thing we can ALL agree on:  we are getting older everyday.

So, what’s the magic about aging, what the remedy for aging?

There isn’t any remedy, there’s no “anti-aging” pill, cream or surgery (despite what some pay thousands for).  These ‘artificial’ remedies are truthfully only made to make YOU feel better, to make YOU feel as though you are in ‘control’.  Sorry, but that’s the truth.

Embrace your “experience”, you’ve earned it, you paid the price through blood, sweat & tears, haven’t you…

What can we do about getting older?

Accept it, live life to the fullest, appreciate others & love yourself.

But, since we’re on the subject of aging everyday, I want to share something with you.

Here are some things that you CAN control yourself.  Read them, let them marinade in your mind & put them to good use in YOUR situations.

I call these:   GROWING OLD GRACEFULLY:

Fear less:   hope more.

Eat less:   chew more

Talk less:   say more.

Hate less:   love more.

Interrupt less:   listen more.

Resent less:   engage more.

Expect less:   enjoy more.

Take less:   give more.

What ever you feel about getting older, regardless of what you age is at this moment, these are things to begin living by now.  Because by the time you are elderly, these thoughts to Grow old gracefully, will just come naturally.

“You will never become who you want to be, if you keep blaming everyone else for who you are now”………

I have to admit, amongst all your pearls of wisdom, it was this line that made me smile most … “Eat less … chew more” Just LOVED that!

Thank you as always for all your pearls … you are an absolute treasure!

Hi Linda,

Acceptance and acceptance and acceptance is the key, just like you say Linda.

Accept myself, accept others, accept situations, make our life for who we are

Love this post Linda

What a post — filled with so much wisdom. And like Di said — its all about acceptance. For me, its also about not being defined by your age, a number, or your place in life.

How can we feel bad about getting older, it’s only WHEN we are older we get given wisdom. LOL I keep telling myself this. Thanks Linda, like everyone else has said, another great post.

Rhonda thank you. We’ve wanted to be older since we were little, now that it’s nearer to us, no better time than now to get the graceful part right! Thank you for your kind words.

Yeah David, that’s why you have to chew more to keep it slower. A different kind of analogy for you today. Thanks for your time to visit my blog. The best to you David.

Great advice Linda. When I hear someone complain about getting older I want to remind them would they prefer the alternative of dying young. It is what it is and we should embrace each stage of our lives. I love the wisdom I have gathered as I grow older. Thanks for a great post once again Linda.
