HELLO again everyone, I’m so glad to see you back today.  My name is Linda Frame.  I’m here today with your “Daily Adversity Support” ……

As you know, if you’ve followed my blog, I post everyday a few words of encouragement and sometimes I have a story to share with you that will help you see you are not alone. These daily blogs are meant to speak to your heart and soul about things that may be on your mind, issues that you may have been going through, or things you may not have known about but may help someone you know.

If a particular topic of the day here doesn’t suit you, or as I like to say: “speak to you”, that’s fine maybe tomorrows message will.  Just remember, I speak only from my heart through whom I have become as a person, from the adversities I have faced throughout my  life.

So,  WELCOME, here we go with today’s thoughts about adversities, some call challenges, hurdles, road blocks, bumps in the road.  What ever fits your case today, lets talk about it.

Today I would like to talk about your “HABITS”, good or bad your habits do reflect who your are.  Did you know that your self image and habits go together?  Yes they do, if you change one, you’ll automatically change the other.  We have them because they (our habits) fit us, they are consistent with our self-image and our entire personality pattern.

When we consciously and deliberately develop new and better habits , our self-image tends to outgrow the old habits and grow into the new pattern.  On the other hand, after being used over a period of time, habits are merely reactions and responses which we have learned to perform automatically without having to “think” or “decide”.  This is when habits are performed automatically and even creatively.

Did you know that at least 95% of our behavior, feeling and response is habitual?  For example and as a musician I can personally relate to this:  a keyboard player or pianist does not “decide” what key to strike. Even a dancer does not “decide” which foot to move where.  These reactions by the pianist and the dancer are automatic and unthinking.

Similarly, our attitudes, emotions and beliefs tend to become habitual.  In the past we “learned” that certain attitudes, ways of feeling and thinking were “appropriate” to certain situations.  Now, we tend to think, feel and act the same way whenever we encounter what we interpret as “the same sort of situation.”  Stay with me here, keep reading…..

What I would like you to understand is that habits, unlike addictions, “can” be changed, modified or reversed, simply by making a conscious decision and then by “practicing” a new response or behavior.

Now back to the keyboard player or pianist, they can “consciously” decide to strike a different key, if they choose to.  The dancer can “consciously” decide to learn a new step.  It does however, require constant positive, mindful practice until the new behavior pattern is thoroughly learned, before they can become habits.

So, if you do not like your self-image, you need to change your habits.  What you do to make that change is entirely up to you, you were not “born that way”, those habits were formed from a “learned” behavior.  You can”choose” to change, you can “choose” to learn something new, something better, something more appealing, something more satisfying, by making a conscious decision to change your habits.  And, when you do make the conscious decision to change your habits, you will find your self-image will also change.  If you change your habits to a positive response, you will find your self-image become more positive.  It will not happen over night, but like the pianist and dancer, it requires constant positive. mindful practice until the new behavior pattern is thoroughly learned, before they can become habits.  Go ahead, give it a try, but stick with it, I think you will be surprised at how wonderful you’ll feel…..

I would love to hear from you, leave a comment below if you care to, OR let me know of a topic that may be of interest to you.  *NOTE: all comments are kept confidential.
