Do You Know How to Find Support?

Let’s be honest, sometimes you ‘just need to talk’.  Things aren’t going right, you can’t concentrate, you’re not yourself, no matter what you do you just can’t think straight!

It’s true, you can’t hold in everything, sometimes you just need to get it out, or your head will explode!  Well, not literally……

But, be careful, not everyone is the appropriate person to vent your inner precious information with.

Well, now what, I’m cautioning you but yet I’m encouraging you to get those conflictions out.

You are the only one who knows your “gut” feeling about who you can confide in, and of course who you can’t.

Sometimes, you really should look beyond the “front row” when deciding to vent you concerns.  How?  Why?  Keep reading….

When you need to find a ‘confidant’, a listening ear, someone you can honestly vent with, Look For:

  Someone you trust.

Someone who will keep a confidence.

Someone who will respect your boundaries.

Someone who will pray for you.

Someone who will give you perspective.

Someone who is wise and has more experience that you.

Someone who values commitment.

Someone who will keep you accountable without unjustly condemning you.

Someone of the same sex.

Someone who will not be negatively affected by your confidence.

Don’t let yourself suffer alone, there’s no need for that.  Get another perspective, an outside view from someone completely out of the picture that will not have a bias or personal connection.

This is your challenge and how you deal with it will affect the result within yourself.

Whatever you do to resolve your issues and the need for a listening ear, be sure to clear your other thoughts so you can focus on the concern at stake.

“It’s not what happens to you in life that matters.  It’s how you respond to what happens to you, that makes the difference”……….

More great advice Linda … and so true! I have only one person on the planet like that, and I know that she will always be a safe and secure sounding board for me.

And you’re so right … it’s so important to get things off your chest!

Fortunately for you Erica, you were able to find that person to completely trust. With all the bully & being used issues, it’s been a challenge to allow myself to trust. But, it IS so important to find them & get that toxic stuff out of you, unconditionally, I’m so glad you have that person. Thank you for your insight.

You have to have that one person that you completely trust to vent to. If not, your mind just over loads with mixed messages. Well done & thank you Erica I appreciate you.

I so agree with you Linda. I have made the mistake in the past of sharing with people and it backfiring on me. I only have a couple of people I know will always be safe and secure. We have to know someone has our back. Thanks for great advice.

Absolutely Sue, I’ve been through the same as you, trusted the wrong people that I didn’t know had an agenda. With my share of being bullied so much & used, I have trust issues that have followed me. But, I think I have now found some of my ‘extended’ family & friends here with TILT, that are pretty solid & worthy. You are no exception Sue. Thank you for your thoughts.

Thank you so much, you are so kind with your words. Actually, life’s lessons have served me rather well by “learning the hard way”. Support comes in many surprising ways, IF you’re not afraid to look hard enough. I so appreciate your thoughts.
