What Kind of Friend are YOU?

by Linda Frame, RN-Medical Content Writer Freelance on May 30, 2015

We all have a lot of friends, don’t we.

Actually, we really have a lot of acquaintances.

Do you have several really close friends, one or two close friends?

Would you even row a boat for them if they asked you to help?

Actually, the number of people we call “friends” has no relevance here because that is your personal business.

The point here today is to get you to think for a moment about those whom you do have in your life that are special.

Today is going to be a benefit for you, because I want you to think how YOU, measure up as a friend.

Hmmm…  Be careful here, your opinion doesn’t count.

Now there are about as many types of friendships as there are people, & that’s fine, but are YOU a worthy friend?  Would you want to be friends with YOU?

Here are a few thoughts for you about what it takes To be a good friend:

Be one who says positive things, about others.

Look people in the eye, when you talk to them.

Always call, if you’re running late.

Don’t establish a friendship, based on mutual dislikes.

Seek out quiet people.  They have a lot to say, if you say something first.

Make friends, even if you don’t think you need them.

Learn, to tell a good story.

Ask other people about themselves.

Be genuinely happy for others, in their good fortune.

Make sure, your caring includes, doing.

Know when to say good-bye.

Being a good friend is being a good person in any type of relationship.  It means: honesty, communication, being positive, giving, listening, just to name a few.

As with any relationship, it can also be exhausting if it’s forced & one-sided.

Your friends should make you feel like a better person for having known them, & leave you feeling inspired.

So think about your situation & yourself, do you feel better about your relationships?  Can you say you are a better friend because of them?

“Friends are the most important ingredient, in the recipe of life”………

Rhonda thank you. You are a wonderful person, it’s never too late to tell those you care about how much you care & appreciate. Do it once a day. It’s amazing how it will make them feel, that you took the time to do that.

Awesome Linda, great advice, and you are right, we have more aquaintances than close friends.

Thank you Debbie. We all need “that” person to be ourselves with, the one with the unconditional love & understanding. It’s how we grow & learn. Thank you for your thoughts. I hope you are well.
