How To Create a Teamwork Skill at Home.

Yesterday, while out walking as part of my therapy, I ran into some wonderful neighbors I hadn’t seen because I haven’t been out walking the neighborhood for some time since my accident.  Their kids were growing & the one dog was now 2 dogs & a lot of energy was going on.

She held back from her ‘pack’ a little & made the comment; “oh my gosh, they’re driving me crazy already & school is just about to be out for the summer, what am I going to do”…….. she was laughing of course while saying this, but I know she’s such a good Mom & wife.

This was a surprising remark, even kidding aside, from a woman who’s generally very laid back & soft spoken, so I laughed with her, but could see what’s coming in that household, many others.

When you think about it, most families have these issues year around, so of course it got me to start thinking about “back up plans”, I’ve shared before.

What can  you do with your family, regardless if you’re in a traditional family, single parent, or a new parent or have relatives you care for?

Now, if you’re struggling & don’t think this doesn’t pertains to you, it does, it pertains to everyone regardless of their status.  In fact, if you are having rough times right now, this is the best information, no cost ideas for you.  Keep reading, I’ll show you…

TEAM BUILDING

WORKING TOGETHER

Assign chores that must be completed with cooperation.

GREAT GOALS

Promote activities where siblings must work together to reach a goal.

CHARITY WORK

Unite you kids to reach out to the less fortunate & help them around the yard.

GAMES

During family time, join the kids as a team.  The quality time is amazing.

FUN PROJECTS

Promote sibling activities like: large puzzles, making birdhouses or craft kits, to develop a sense of teamwork.  Use limited supplies such as glue & markers so the children will have to share.

OFFERING FOR EVERY OCCASION

Unite all  ideas to create gifts, such as cookies for neighbors or presents for grandparents that they have made themselves.

BOOK TIME

Have children read to each other, or have an older child read to a younger sibling. Also, make up your own sibling stories for your kids.  Have a Super Brother save little sister from the scary bear, or even add your children as characters to Bible stories.

KING OR QUEEN for the DAY

One day a week, have “Royal Kid Day”.  One child is the king or queen & will receive special treatment.  The other “servant” children will also enjoy themselves as they prepare food & games for the king or queen of that day.  Also don’t forget, the parents &/or mates can be the King or Queen for the day!

SPECIAL PARENT DAY

Siblings will have a ton of fun working together to fulfill the needs of the chosen adult.  This also works great for the adults too.

FAMIILY TALENT NIGHT

Encourage each child to shine like a star in front of the family.  Tumbling acts, singing specials, or the presentation of a school projects.  These & others will bring claps & support from other siblings.  The catch is:  the parents must also participate in talent night! The quality time spent like this will bring lifetime memories. This also keeps the TV off & everyone off their devices!

These activities are meant to bring bonding, trust, teamwork, laughter, silliness, & quality activities on a budget for everyone. The best part is the amount of memories that will be shared & talked about forever.

We spend our lives trying to be so grown up, why not be a kid again & improve not only your health, but your disposition as well.

For those of you with children, you get a limited time with them to make a difference, so use your time well.

“Nothing in life has any meaning, except the meaning & memories we give it”……..

Your advice is spot on — I am not a Mom yet, but I have worked as a babysitter and a nanny for many years. Thanks for sharing practical steps for parents to take to relieve the family stress.

What awesome ideas Linda. I hear people say similar words to that woman in school vacation time. It is normal for sure. It is far better too than the kids playing computer games etc all the time.

Nice that you pointed out how important it is for each member of the family to contribute – as early as possible in my opinion. Builds a good foundation.

Great Blog Post and NEAT family ideas. I have to engage my kids into something while I am getting my work done, and learning to “carve out time” for family time is important too. Thanks for the tips!

Thank you Teresa, you have a handful unless you can balance it out with things like these. Thank you for your insight.

Family is always priority 1 in my world. Even if I don’t have any children of my own. I’ve always looked out for my parents and sisters. Even the times when time just goes so fast, that in a blink of a second life has changed, but we are still together. These are brilliant ideas Linda
